The U12 girls got their SFAI SUBWAY National Cup campaign off to a flying start with a commanding performance against Tralee Dynamos in Round 1.
From the first whistle, the girls showed their intent, dominating possession and attacking with pace and precision. Leading the line was Mia O’Shaughnessy, who delivered an unforgettable display, netting an incredible 10 goals. Her finishing, movement, and determination set the tone for a relentless team performance.

To their credit, Tralee Dynamos never gave up and responded with some goals of their own in the second half. Their determination and fighting spirit until the final whistle reflected great character and sportsmanship.

U14 Girls SFAI SUBWAY National Cup Round 1

Askeaton/Kilcornan 1-0 Shountrade
Cailín Purtill
On a stormy Saturday morning in Askeaton, our girls battled their way to a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Shountrade in the National Cup.
Playing with the strong wind in the first half, it was difficult to create clear chances as through balls were being carried straight into the Shountrade keeper’s hands. The sides went in 0–0 at half time.
In the second half, against the wind, the girls lifted their energy and work rate, moving the ball better and linking up with teammates more effectively. Chances began to come, but some excellent defending and goalkeeping from Shountrade kept the scoreline level.
With just five minutes remaining, the breakthrough arrived. A perfectly weighted through ball from Samantha Maune sent Cailín Purtill racing clear 1-on-1 with the keeper. Without hesitation, she struck first time, drilling the ball into the corner off the post for a brilliant finish.
The girls dug in and defended superbly in the closing minutes to secure another clean sheet and a well-deserved place in the next round.
A very solid team performance – onwards and upwards!

U13 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 1-4 Broadford Utd B
Josh O’Donoghue
The U13 boys came up against a strong Broadford Utd team in Askeaton on Saturday afternoon. After going behind early we levelled the match through a fine strike from Josh O’Donoghue. A very harsh penalty given against us after 20 minutes gave Broadford the lead again, and we conceded a scrappy goal from a corner just before the break to go in 3-1 at half-time. The teams were evenly matched in the second half and we continued to battle hard, but a fine individual effort from Broadford got them their fourth 5 mins from the end to finish the match 4-1.

Munster U17s Cup 2nd Round
Ballingarry AFC 1-2 Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC
24’ Eoin McNamara (Assist Nathan Dalton)
78’ Gavin Rushe
Our U17s had a good 2-1 win in the Munster U17s Cup against a good Ballingarry side. We were playing against a strong breeze in the first half and were under pressure early but good defending by our back four of Liam Hennessy, Aaron Cregan, Danny Murphy, Alex Maher along with excellent handling by Luca Zoncada kept Ballingarry at bay. We began to get into the game and our midfield of Cillian Murphy, Darragh O’Shaughnessy, Gavin Rushe, Eoin McNamara and Nathan Dalton began to get on top. We took the lead in the 24th minute through Eoin McNamara who was put through by Nathan Dalton. His initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper but he followed up and lobbed the ball over the keeper to put us 1 up. We had another great chance just before the break when Samuel Costellos effort brought a great save from the Ballingarry keeper.
We introduced Cathal Daly for Liam Hennessy at the start of the second half.
We started the second half well and began to dominate proceedings and we were rewarded with a second goal in the 78th minute from a penalty scored by Gavin Rushe following a foul on Darragh O’Shaughnessy. We introduced Tom Harty and Conor Mulcair and both contributed well. Ballingarry scored a goal late on to make it 2-1band had a chance to level it but fortunately for us they missed the chance.
A very good team performance on the day considering 9 of the squad had played a hurling semi final a few hours earlier.
