Tuesday 31st March
U13 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 2-3 Breska Rovers
Our under 13 boys team were unlucky to go down 3-2 at home to Breska Rovers in Kilcornan on Tuesday evening. After an opening 15 minutes where we were the stronger team, Breska scored after a quick counter-attack to take the lead. Our players kept battling and got their reward with a goal from Eoghan Kelly before the break to level things up at half-time. In what was a closely-contested second half, Breska again took the lead early in the second half after a through ball split our defence. Credit to our players who again showed great resilience to level the match again midway through the second half with Eoghan Kelly again finding the net. Unfortunately as we tried to push for a winner, another quick break from Breska caught us out and they scored what would prove to be the winning goal.
Matchday squad: Oisín O’Connor, Gavin Anglim, Conor Sheahan, Paddy Nealon, Sean Anglim, Kayden Delahunty, Harry Biggane, Mike Mulvihill, Laura O’Driscoll, Josh O’Donoghue, Eoghan Kelly, Tommy Hennessy, Mohammad Ibrahim, Mya Kelly.

U12 Boys Cup First Round
Askeaton/Kilcornan 2-3 Carrig Celtic
We knew this cup match against Carrig Celtic would be a tough one, especially with them dominating the division below, winning all 7 of their games and securing the league title.
We got off to a flying start, going 2–0 up within the first 10 minutes. Instead of tightening things up defensively, we pushed hard for a third, which left us exposed. Carrig Celtic capitalised and struck twice before halftime. We were unlucky not to go in ahead, hitting the bar twice, but went into the break level at 2–2.
The team felt the setback but showed great character to rally. Unfortunately, we conceded a third, but kept pushing forward relentlessly. We hit the bar and post at least twice more and really deserved an equaliser.
There’s clear progress week by week, even if the results aren’t reflecting it just yet. With four games left this season, there’s every reason to believe wins are coming. It was another tough day, but the effort and commitment from everyone was outstanding.
U13 Girls Cup Quarter Finals
Askeaton/Kilcornan 3-1 Granagh Utd
Kate O’Driscoll (2)
Allie Fitzsimons
A huge well done to the U13 girls who secured a fantastic 3-1 victory at home to Granagh in tough conditions in the cup.
The girls dominated possession throughout the opening half, showing great composure and control, but found it difficult to break down a resilient Granagh defence, leaving the game scoreless at the break.
The breakthrough came just three minutes into the second half. A perfectly weighted pass from Kate split the defence and found Allie, who drove forward. Her initial effort was brilliantly saved by the Granagh goalkeeper, but Allie reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and give her side a deserved lead.
Granagh responded well and pulled a goal back in the 36th minute to level the game, setting up a tense finish. However, the girls showed great determination and character. Kate restored the lead in the 42nd minute with a well-taken goal.
With momentum on their side, the girls continued to press, and their efforts were rewarded again in the 58th minute when Kate struck her second of the game with a superb left-footed finish to seal a well-earned 3-1 win.
A brilliant team performance in challenging conditions, well done to all involved!
U14 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 2-2 NCW Town B
A tough day for our U14s, finishing 2–2 at home in incredibly windy conditions.
We went 1–0 down but responded well with Eoghan Kelly showing great footwork in the box to grab the equaliser. We then took the lead through a well-earned goal from Cian Sommers after some hard work.
Unfortunately, with the last play of added time, we conceded from a corner to make it 2–2.
In the end, it was probably a fair result, with both teams deserving something from the game.
