U12 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 2-7 Granagh Utd A
A tough day for our U12 boys against Granagh. We took a 1–0 lead and pressed for more, creating three or four good chances that unfortunately went begging. Two quick goals then knocked our momentum and heads dropped. A clearance up the middle of the pitch gifted them a third, and from there we struggled to recover.
We played our best football in the final 15 minutes, but while pushing to get back into the game we conceded further goals. Final score 7–2.
Man of the match was Thomas Kenneally in goal, producing some outstanding saves and keeping the scoreline from reaching double figures. The first half of the fixtures is now complete, and there’s plenty of work to do as we look to turn things around.

U14 Boys Cup Preliminary Round 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 4-2 St Itas (AET)
Eoghan Kelly (3)
Dylan O’Connor
A great result for our Under 14 boys, defeating St Itas 4–2 at home.
It was 1–1 at half time, with our goal coming from a superb opener by Eoghan Kelly. We started the second half slowly and St Itas took the lead, but our lads showed great character to rally. Some excellent play created another chance for Eoghan, which he finished brilliantly to bring us back level.
We continued to push hard, but outstanding saves from the St Itas goalkeeper kept them in the game. The match went to extra time, and in the first half we were awarded a penalty. Dylan O’Connor stepped up confidently and slotted it away.
The second half of extra time saw us defend with everything we had, with dogged defending denying St Itas a way back into the game. Then came the decisive moment: Dylan broke through one-on-one with the keeper and, showing great awareness and unselfishness, squared the ball to Eoghan, who completed his hat-trick.
A fantastic team performance and a special mention to lads like Kieran Condon, who stepped into unfamiliar positions and played superbly, and to Paddy Nealon, who made his debut and didn’t put a foot wrong. Every lad played out of their skins and can be extremely proud of themselves. On to the next round!

U13 Girls Div 1
Askeaton/Kilcornan 5-1 Creeves Cel
An excellent performance from the U13 girls. From kick-off, the girls put Creeves under pressure. Mia O’Shaughnessy opened the scoring after nine minutes, finishing well after a superb through ball from Laura. Aimee doubled the lead on 20 minutes, calmly slotting home from a great cross by Cailín to make it 2–0.
The pressure continued, and it was 3–0 after 25 minutes when Cailín rounded the keeper and finished confidently. Cailín grabbed her brace in the 43rd minute with a brilliant run through the Creeves defence, firing home a powerful shot.
Creeves pulled one back late in the second half, but Laura responded in style on 57 minutes, lobbing the keeper to make it 5–1.
A special mention to Mya Kelly in goal, who delivered a superb performance with several important saves throughout the game.
Teamsheet: Mya Kelly, Evie Harty-Maune, Orla Murphy (C), Allie Fitzsimons, Zoe Ivess, Michella Twohig, Laura O’Driscoll, Aimee Quirke, Kate O’Driscoll, Cailín Purtill, Mia O’Shaughnessy, Aoibhinn Ryan, Lucy Duggan Maune, Sophie Ivess

Limerick Desmond U19s Ladies
Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC 2-2 Broadford Utd
The girls started brightly, creating a number of chances early on but failing to make them count. Ten minutes in, we switched off defensively and Broadford took advantage to open the scoring. However, the heart and determination shown by the girls was unbelievable. We kept fighting and on the 20th minute Kate found the net after a beautiful pass from Ellie.
We went in at half-time level at 1–1, and the team talk was positive and honest. We said what needed to be said and set our sights firmly on the second half.
The passion, movement on and off the ball, and overall work rate were outstanding, and as a manager it made me incredibly proud to watch. We conceded a soft corner and, not being set, Broadford scored directly from it. But the response was excellent, just minutes later Kate struck a fantastic shot into the top right corner, brilliantly set up by Jane Kelly.
With ten minutes remaining, we pushed hard for a winner, but Broadford held firm. Overall, it was a brilliant performance. Special mentions go to Lucy, Hailey, and Siofra, who were tasked with man-marking and executed their roles to perfection, dominating the middle of the park for the entire game.
A strong start to the year with points on the board, we’ll keep this momentum going.
