Saturday 11th October

NON-COMPETITIVE FIXTURE
U10 Boys Dual Group 2
GB Rovers v Askeaton/Kilcornan
Absolutely fantastic performances from our U10s on Saturday morning. The improvement in every player since last season was evident for all to see.
The red team scored 7 goals in their 2 matches, the white team scored 6 goals. Loads of goals, loads of happy faces.

U14 Boys

U14 Boys SFAI SUBWAY National Cup Round 2

Kilmallock 2-6 Askeaton/Kilcornan
A brilliant performance from our U14 boys, who recorded an impressive 6–2 away win over Kilmallock.
We got off to a strong start when Bradley Kelly opened the scoring with a great strike from a loose ball following a corner. Kilmallock responded well, pressing hard and equalising from a corner to make it 1–1.
However, Danny, who covered every blade of grass all day, restored our lead before the break. The second half began a little slower for us, with some solid defending needed before Darragh Moran grabbed our third goal — a fine goal and equally fabulous celebration.
From there, we took control of the game. Danny added another to make it four, Rory came off the bench to score a nicely finished goal, and Danny completed his hat-trick with our sixth of the day.
A tremendous all-round team performance — every one of the 16 lads put in a huge shift. We march proudly on to the next round of the National Cup!

U16 Boys SFAI SUBWAY National Cup Round 2

Askeaton/Kilcornan 1-1 Inter Kenmare
It was a tightly contested match, with our side taking a 1–0 lead thanks to Rian Kelly. Both teams created plenty of chances, and Luca Zoncada made some outstanding saves to keep us ahead. However, Inter Kenmare found a late equaliser to send the game into extra time. Despite further opportunities for both sides, neither could find the winner, and the match was ultimately decided by penalties, where Inter Kenmare came out on top in the shootout.

U13 Girls

U13 Girls Div 1
Broadford Utd 2-2 Askeaton/Kilcornan
Our U13 girls travelled away to Broadford. Broadford opened the scoring midway through the first half after a dominant first half. Our girls dug deep early on in the second half to get the equaliser through Cailín with a great strike. With the girls pushing hard in the second half we went 2-1 up with fifteen minutes to go. Laura made a super run down the right wing before her shot came off the underside of the crossbar to cross the line. Broadford pushed hard in the last few minutes and the equaliser came with a minute left on the clock. 2-2 draw after a thrilling game. Great credit has to be given to the girls. Big thank you to the U10 girls who stood to the task which was asked of them.

Limerick Desmond U19s Ladies
Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC 1-5 Shountrade AFC
Jane Kelly
The girls started strong with solid defense and some great saves from our goalkeeper. However, we lost a bit of focus, and before we knew it, we were 3–0 down. After a motivating halftime talk, we came out in the second half determined to fight back. Jane Kelly scored a fantastic chip to get us on the board, but the opposition responded quickly with two more goals, ending the game 5–1.
Although the scoreline might not show it, there were plenty of positives. At times, we completely outplayed them. It was a valiant effort, and we go again!

Sunday 12th October

Premier Division
Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC 1-2 Dromore Utd
Sean Whelan 90’+5
We kicked off our league campaign at home against Dromore Utd. After a sluggish start, we fell 2–0 behind within the first twenty minutes. In the second half, we showed more determination and fought our way back, grabbing a late consolation goal in injury time through Sean Whelan.

Division Two
Askeaton/Kilcornan B 1-3 Feenagh
Colm O’Flaherty 69’ (Assist Stephen Maune)
Feenagh were first on the scoresheet after 18 minutes and held their lead going into the break. They struck again early in the second half to make it 2–0, but Colm pulled one back in the 69th minute after a great assist from Stephen. The lads dug deep and pushed hard for an equaliser, but despite their efforts, it was Feenagh who grabbed the final goal of the game in the 83rd minute.
