Monday 6th April (Bank Holiday)
U12 Girls Div 1
NCW Town 1-5 Askeaton/Kilcornan
Big performance on Monday from all of our u12 girls against a determined NCW side in wet and windy conditions.
In awful conditions we started the game in the fastest possible way, from tip off we worked the ball with neat and tidy passing for Mia to finish to the bottom corner within a minute of KO. For such poor conditions and a very heavy pitch this was a highly entertaining game for the big support following both teams. With what seemed like an endless amount of energy our girls fought hard to lead 3-1 at half time. It could have been more but for some excellent goalkeeping from NCW. With the pitch cutting up it’s a credit to the girls the way they kept there passing game up until the very end with it finishing 5-1 with Mia getting 4 and Muireann with her 1st of the season with many others unlucky not to be on the score sheet. Thanks to NCW for a very exciting game.
U16 Girls Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 3-1 Creeves Celtic
On Easter Monday evening, we finally got a well-deserved first win of the season in a closely contested game at home against our neighbours Creeves Celtic.
Both teams started evenly, but we gradually began to take control, attacking down the flanks. Despite creating chances, the final ball was repeatedly dealt with by a very busy Creeves goalkeeper. The breakthrough eventually came when Xixi stepped up and fired a screamer into the net, giving us a 1-0 lead at the break.
The second half saw us take full control, with Jessie and Hailey pushing forward and causing problems. Creeves defended well, but Xixi struck again with a superb 25-yard free kick to extend our lead. Making full use of all 16 players, we continued to dominate, and Xixi completed her hat-trick with a low strike from outside the box. She nearly added another soon after, hitting the post.
Our defence was outstanding throughout, giving very little away. Creeves did manage to pull one back with great determination, but overall our midfield and forward players linked up excellently for the entire game.
A special mention to our captain, Xixi, who was outstanding and fully deserving of Player of the Match.

U13 Girls Div 1
Dromore Utd v Askeaton/Kilcornan
Well done to the U13 girls who travelled to Pallaskenry to take on Dromore in their penultimate game of the season.
The match got off to a slow start, but it was none other than Cailin Purtill who opened the scoring after 10 minutes. Just two minutes later, the birthday girl Laura doubled the lead with a well-taken finish past the Dromore goalkeeper.
With the girls dominating possession, Mia added a third goal on 22 minutes. Two minutes later, Cailin struck again to claim her second of the game, giving her side a commanding lead at halftime.
The second half started in perfect fashion, with Mia finding the net just one minute after the restart. She went on to complete her hat-trick six minutes later, rounding off an excellent team performance.
With one game left to play in the coming weeks, the girls now sit joint top of the table with Broadford, setting up an exciting finish to the season.

Saturday 11th April
U13 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 3-2 Rathkeale
The U13 Boys team had a good win at home to Rathkeale in the early kickoff in Kilcornan on Saturday morning.
In blustery conditions we made the best of the wind at our backs in the first half to go 3-0 by halftime, through a long free-kick from Harry Biggane, a fine left-footed strike from outside the box from Kayden Delahunty, and another clinical finish from Harry this time from inside the box. The second half against the wind was a different story and we struggled for long periods to get the ball out of our half. Credit to Rathkeale who battled hard and were rewarded with 15 minutes remaining through a good long-range strike to set up a nervy finish. Our team, defending from the front and with Mya Kelly having a great game in goals, battled hard and kept them out until virtually the last kick of the game when Rathkeale scored from a corner.
We were good value for the win though, and the whole squad can be very proud of their efforts in securing another valuable three points.
A special mention and best wishes to Paddy Nealon, who had to go off in the second half with a shoulder injury sustained while yet again clearing his lines for the team. Get well soon Paddy!
