Saturday 14th February

U10 Girls Single
Askeaton/Kilcornan v Shannonside
A great effort from all the girls on Saturday in very wet conditions.

U11 Boys Single
Rathkeale v Askeaton/Kilcornan
Our U11 boys made the trip to Rathkeale on Saturday morning and before facing the very frosty conditions, were fuelled up with some hot chocolate.

U13 Boys Cup Round 1
Askeaton/Kilcornan 0-1 Kilcolman Rvs
Our u13 boys team put in a fantastic performance against Div 1 opposition Kilcolman Rovers in the 1st round of the Boys cup, and were unlucky to lose 1-0 after a very close and competitive match. A goal in the first 10 minutes proved the difference, with chances at both ends and both sides hitting the woodwork in the second half too. Plenty of positives to take from the game despite the loss, and to carry forward into our next league fixtures.
Squad:
Oisín O’Connor, Conor Sheahan, Paddy Nealon, Luke Mungovan, Sean Anglim, Kayden Delahunty, Mike Mulvihill, Harry Bigane, Laura O’Driscoll, Josh O’Donoghue, Eoghan Kelly, Tommy Hennessy, Gavin Anglim, Ruairi Flanagan, Mohammad Rana.

U15 Boys Preliminary Cup Round 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 1-3 Creeves Cel
Dylan Sheahan
Creeves took an early lead and added a second soon after. We responded through Dylan to get ourselves back into it.
The lads produced a superb second-half performance in extremely tough conditions. The two early goals proved decisive, but as the game progressed we more than matched them. The 3-1 scoreline doesn’t truly reflect the balance of play as we struck the crossbar and also had a goal ruled out.

U12 Girls Div 1
Rathkeale v Askeaton/Kilcornan (off, pitch unplayable)

U14 Girls Div 1
Breska Rvs 3-0 Askeaton/Kilcornan
A tough day at the office for our U14 girls as they suffered a 3–0 defeat to a well-organised Breska side.
In wintery conditions, our girls started the game solidly and probably had the better of the chances in the opening 20 minutes. Danielle Prendeville narrowly missed the target with a fine effort, while Laura O’Driscoll tested the Breska keeper.
However, with about four minutes left in the first half, Breska struck twice in quick succession to leave the half-time score at 2–0.
Breska added their third goal five minutes into the second half. While we’ve seen our girls rally strongly in previous games when facing setbacks, they couldn’t break down a disciplined Breska side on this occasion.
Credit to the girls — they battled right to the end but it wasn’t to be.
A big thank you to our U12 players Zoe Ivess and Kate O’Driscoll who togged out to help us when we were down a few key players through injury.
Hopefully just a minor blip in what has been an excellent season so far. Heads up and on to the next one.
Squad on the day: Mya Kelly, Laoise Daly, Sorcha Cregan, Orla Murphy, Katie Ivess, Allie Fitzsimons, Lydia Collopy, Danielle Prendeville, Laura O’Driscoll, Amy Kenrick, Cailín Purtill, Ellen Costello, Michaela Twohig, Zoe Ivess, Kate O’Driscoll

ASKEATON/KILCORNAN AFC BUY A PLAQUE SCHEME –  LET’S FINISH THE JOB!!
We have come a very long way since purchasing 6 acres of land in 2003 from the O’Grady family at the picturesque Ballymore, Askeaton. We would like to sincerely thank our past AFC committees, players, supporters and families for their selfless efforts in bringing the club to where it is today.
Since June 2003, the club has raised and invested €1.2 million at Páirc Eas Geitine, covering land purchase, site clearance, facility construction and overall club development.
This fundraiser will allow our current, dedicated committee to move forward with the next stage of development, benefiting both present and future generations within our community.
With this in mind, the club launched the Buy A Plaque Scheme a number of years ago inviting members of the local and wider community to show their support. As shown in the photo, there is still plenty of space available for new plaques, and we would love to see it filled. Let’s get this fundraiser finished!
Plaques cost €200 and can be purchased via the link https://askeatonkilcornanafc.ie/product/buy-a-plaque-scheme/For any queries, please contact Pat on 086 8326202.
