Great work against Breska on Saturday morning, plenty goals and celebrations to match.

U10 Girls Single Group 2
Shannonside v Askeaton/Kilcornan
The U10 girls travelled back to Shanagolden on Saturday morning to take on Shannonside. The pitch held up great after a heavy nights rainfall and the girls played some fantastic soccer and scored loads of goals in a real competitive game. Well done girls!

U14 Girls Div 1
Askeaton/Kilcornan 2-1 Breska Rovers
Our U14 girls welcomed Breska to Askeaton for a lunchtime Division 1 league fixture.
This was an absolutely thrilling end-to-end game of soccer, with our girls coming away with a hard-fought 2–1 victory.
Breska probably shaded the opening 15 minutes, but our defence stood firm to keep them out.
Midway through the first half, we broke the deadlock — some lovely passing between Lydia Collopy and Laura O’Driscoll in midfield sent Cailín Purtill through. She dropped the shoulder past the last defender and rifled the ball into the top corner with her left foot – a cracking goal!
A superb long-range strike from Breska’s left winger levelled the game just before half-time.
Half-time score: 1–1.
The second half followed a similar pattern, both sides going at it full tilt. Our defence and goalkeeper Mya Kelly were outstanding, with one stunning save from Mya drawing applause from both sets of supporters.
Then came another moment of magic from Cailín Purtill – Samantha Maune played a neat pass to her feet on the edge of the box, Cailín cut inside the centre-back and curled an absolute beauty into the top corner with her left leg once again.
Breska pushed hard for an equaliser, throwing everything forward, but our girls held strong to see out a fantastic win.

U16 Girls Cup Preliminary Rd 1
Breska Rovers 5-0 Askeaton/Kilcornan
It was a tough day, but it was also a massive learning curve for the girls. Each and every one of the girls put their best foot forward and didn’t give up and that shows a lot more than winning. Unfortunately we only had ten players on the day due to the midterm break but the girls did an exceptional job. We’ll build from this experience going forward and keep the heads up.

U13 Boys Cup Preliminary Rd 1
Askeaton/Kilcornan v Shountrade
The U13 boys had a convincing win against Shountrade in the boys cup on Saturday morning in Askeaton. We were on top from the start and kept up the effort levels of the full game, despite making regular substitutions. All players played their part in a great result. Goals on the day from Josh, Kayden, Luke and Eoghan. Most pleasing of all was our first clean sheet of the season.

U15 Boys Div 2
NCW Town B 2-2 Askeaton/Kilcornan
The lads had to fight back from behind twice but overall had by far the more and better chances. Goals from Rian Kelly and John O’Brien. Good start to the season with 2 away results, a win and draw.

Our Split the Pot draw was held on Tuesday 28th October in Askeaton clubhouse. The winner of €102 was James O’Keeffe.
Split the Pot is our weekly fundraiser for Askeaton Kilcornan AFC. You can enter by writing your name and contact number on the envelope and place your €2 into the envelope. The envelope should be placed into one of the buckets located in SuperValu, Centra, Top of the Town Bar, Cagney’s Bar, Shanahan’s Shop, Boss Barbers, Moran’s Hardware, Askeaton Soccer Pitch and Kilcornan Community Hall. You can also enter online at www.askeatonkilcornanafc.ie The draw is held every Tuesday evening. Half of the money entered into the draw is given in prize money and the other half goes towards funding activities for our club. We thank you all for your continued support of this fundraising initiative, it is very much appreciated.
