U13 Boys Cup Quarter Finals
Carrig Cel 2-2 Askeaton/Kilcornan
The boys put in a massive shift and looked to be heading for victory thanks to two outstanding goals from Danny Anglim, both strikes worthy of winning any game. It was a strong team performance full of heart and determination.
However, with the final whistle looming Carrig snatched an equaliser with the last kick of the game in injury time, forcing the tie into extra time. Despite continued pressure and effort the deadlock couldn’t be broken and the game went to penalties.
In the end it was Carrig who edged it from the spot. A tough result to take, but the lads can hold their heads high after a brilliant display.

Desmond Youths Cup Semi Final
Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC 1-0 Dromore Utd
Sambulo Ngubane 59’
We booked our place in the Desmond Youths Cup Final with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Dromore Utd in challenging conditions at Mick Hanley Park.
From the first whistle we looked the stronger side, dominating possession and creating several chances in the opening 45 minutes. However, neither of us were able to find the net before the break, and we went in level at 0-0.
The breakthrough came in the 59th minute when Sambulo latched onto a well-worked move to slot home the decisive goal. Changes were made in the second half with John Connors coming on for Christopher Sheehy in the 71st minute, followed by Danny Murphy replacing Gavin Rushe in the 77th.
Despite Dromore’s late pressure, we held firm to see out the 1-0 win and secure our place in the final where we will face Rathkeale.

U16 Boys Cup Semi Final

NCW took their chances to seal their place in the final. We showed flashes of promise throughout, but it wasn’t enough on the day. A tough result for the boys.

Sunday 27th April

Weekly Observer Division One
Athea Utd 0-2 Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC
Sam Duggan 84’ (Assist Thomas McCarthy)
Patrick Ivess 89’ (Assist Kevin Walsh)
We edge closer to promotion after a hard-fought 2-0 win away to Athea United. After a tense and scoreless opening 83 minutes, it was Sam Duggan who finally broke the deadlock with a well taken goal assisted by Thomas McCarthy. Just five minutes later, goalkeeper Kevin Walsh turned provider, sending a long ball forward that was finished by Patrick Ivess to seal the win.
In a game of tactical switches, Matt Moane came on for Diarmaid O’Connor in the 59th minute, with Thomas McCarthy replacing Kenneth O’Donoghue in the 74th. As the match reached its closing stages, Colm O’Flaherty, Patrick Ivess, and Conor McNamara were introduced for Sean Whelan, Stephen Smith, and Tomas Sheehan.
Another vital three points for us as we keep our promotion hopes firmly on track.

Weekly Observer Division Three
Kilcolman Rovers 1-1 Askeaton/Kilcornan B
Patrick Ivess 64’ (Assist Joe Barrett)
We were left frustrated after a late equaliser denied all three points in a tense encounter with Kilcolman Rovers.
Chasing a win to seal promotion we dominated large spells of the game and took a deserved lead just after the hour mark, Patrick Ivess finishing well after being teed up by Joe Barrett. A double substitution followed, with Arron McCarthy replacing Pete Harty (63’) and David Holland coming on for Padhraic McMahon (76’), as we looked to see out the game.
However, in the dying moments, Kilcolman snatched a point from a free kick which leaves us needing a win in our final game to earn promotion.
