U12 Girls Div 1

Breska Rovers 1-2 Askeaton/Kilcornan
Samantha Maune
Laura O’ Driscoll
Our U12 girls travelled to Breska this morning and came away with a deserved 2-1 victory. Straight from the start the girls effort and work rate was evident. Samantha Maune was looking dangerous up top and was unlucky not to convert a few chances early on but midway through the first half she deservedly got her goal to make it 1-0. Our midfield and backs were putting in great shifts and we got to half time 1-0. Second half started well, girls defending brilliantly and keeping Breskas chances to a minimum. Half way through the second half a brilliant through ball by Danielle Prendeville set up Laura O’ Driscoll who slotted the ball past the keeper cool as you like to make it 2-0. After that Breska threw everything they had at us and got a goal back with a couple of minutes left on the clock. The girls dug deep and battled right to the final whistle to hold on for the win. Well done girls. Fantastic work and super performance.

U15 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 5-1 Shannonside
Lorcan Blackwell (5)
Our U15s were at home this afternoon against Shannonside. We started well and went ahead after 10 minutes with a goal from Lorcan Blackwell. We lost our way for a while and Shannonside levelled mid way through the first half. We tightened our grip in midfield and went ahead again just before half time with another goal from Lorcan Blackwell.
The lads started well in the second half and after a few minutes Lorcan completed his hat trick. Gavin Rushe was very unlucky with a great effort from about 30 yards out that struck the crossbar.
We introduced some fresh legs Mid way through the second half. Lorcan went on to score 2 more goals to bring his tally for the day to 5.
Everyone involved contributed well on the day and this win brings us to top of the League with 3 games remaining.
A mention too to the Shannonside goalkeeper who pulled off some fantastic saves throughout the game.
