Saturday 3rd February

U8 Boys
Feenagh v Askeaton/Kilcornan
Our U8 boys braved the elements and played some great football away to Feenagh on Saturday morning. Well done all.

U12 Boys Div 4
Ballingarry B 4-1 Askeaton/Kilcornan B
Samantha Maune
Score does not reflect the game at all, our nine players done so well and after going one nil up controlled the game for most parts, only tiredness got the best of them and with no subs available each player ran themselves into the ground for the team.
So proud of each and every one of them.
Team: Dylan Rodriguez, Connor Sheehan, Darragh Moran, Bradley Kelly, Niall Sheehy, Donnagh Guilfoyle, Kieran Condon, Samantha Maune, Sean Greene.

U14 Boys Cup Preliminary Round 2
Glantine AFC 1-1 Askeaton/Kilcornan (lost on pens)
Mark McDonagh
The U14s were very unlucky to come out the wrong side of a penalty shoot out in the cup against Glantine. We played the better soccer throughout the whole game and had the ball in the net, but a close off side call ruled it out. We went 1-0 down in the 5th minute of the 2nd half of extra time, but the lads dug deep and battled to the end and got a great equalizer scored by Mark McDonagh with the last kick of the game. The penalties did not go our way with Luca making some great saves. The lads again showed great belief and work rate to keep going to the end and we should be really proud of their effort and attitude. Back to the league next to continue out great run of form.

U14 Girls Div 2
Creeves Cel 1-4 Askeaton/Kilcornan
Ellie-May Kelly
Sophie Barry
Ruby Maune
Elada Kanopaite
Great team display away to Creeves Celtic from all 15 girls who were available and who each got an opportunity to play and share in our success. We took the game to our opponents from the beginning with captain Ellie-May Kelly scoring early in the first half followed by a second goal from Sophie Barry giving us a 2 nil lead at halftime. We continued to dominate from the start of the second half with a third goal disallowed for a questionable offside.
Shortly afterwards, Creeves were fortunate to score from a deflection. Now 2-1 to us but our girls continued to take the game to Creeves and we were rewarded when Ruby Maune scored to be followed by our fourth and final score from Elada Kanopaite. The girls had been showing definite improvement in recent games and Saturday was a further example of that progress.

U16 Boys Cup Preliminary round 1
Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC 6-2 Athea Utd
Shane Ryan (3)
Dessie Downes (2)
Shane Collins
We went 2 nil up at HT with goals from Shane Ryan and Dessie Downes, early in the second half Shane Ryan got his second goal with a tidy finish, Athea rallied for a 15min spell pulling 2 goals back, but once we settled we kicked on and scored another 3 goals without reply through Shane Ryan to complete his hat trick (thats his second hat trick in his last 2 games) Shane Collins and Dessie Downes getting his second of the day with a lovely lobbed finish to round off a good day. Well done boys.
