Thursday 2nd May

U16 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan 5-2 Shountrade
Lorcan Blackwell (2)
Dessie Downes (2)
Gavin Rushe
Well done boys, good result to bounce back from our cup exit, winning 5-2 with goals from Lorcan Blackwell, Dessie Downes and Gavin Rushe. We are now certain of at least a 3rd place finish and a place in the shield but 2 wins from our last 2 games will see us get a minimum play off for the league. Our next game is a must win v league leaders Feenagh on Tuesday evening, a big turn out and big support needed.

Saturday 4th May

U11 Boys
Askeaton/Kilcornan v Breska Rovers
Well played to all the lads on Saturday morning. They had a very good season overall, they should be very proud of themselves. Enjoy the summer, and we’ll see you all again next season.

U12 Girls Div 1
Askeaton/Kilcornan 1-0 Dromore Utd
Lydia Collopy
U12s Girls welcomed neighbours Dromore to Askeaton on Saturday knowing we had to win to keep our hopes of a shield final place alive. Dromore started brightly having the better chances but were denied by some good defending and also fantastic goal keeping from our ever dependable Mya Kelly. The girls eventually settled into the game and started creating chances. Samantha Maune going close on a couple of occasions after great work from Cailin Purtill to set her up. We eventually took the lead through Lydia Collopy who let fly from distance, shot took a slight deflection past the Dromore keeper who was also having a good game, making some great saves. The 2nd half was more of the same, the girls creating some good chances, narrowly missing the target on a few occasions. Laura O Driscoll put on a show of power and skill in the middle of the field and kept forcing Dromore backwards. Dromore gave one final push for an equaliser but were stopped time again by our defence who have been brilliant all year.
Eventually the final whistle blew and we held out for our 1-0 victory but we knew results had to go our way between Breska and title favourites Broadford, unfortunately it wasn’t to be and Breska won 2-1 meaning we finished the season in 4th, 1 point behind Breska.
Congratulations to all the other teams in our Division.
What an absolutely fantastic season from the girls, it was a big decision deciding to be in Division 1 and they held their own no problem. They should be really proud of themselves. Thats a wrap for the U12s girls for the season. On behalf of club and management I want to thank all parents & supporters for all the commitment throughout the year and also to the girls themselves, It’s an absolute pleasure to be involved with coaching this group. They are a fantastic bunch.
