Tuesday 23rd April

U8 Boys

U12 Girls Div 1
Ballingarry 0-0 Askeaton/Kilcornan
The U12 girls travelled to Ballingarry on a sunny Tuesday evening and came away with hard earned but fully deserved 0-0. Ballingarry knew a win would crown them champions of Division 1 but we needed a result ourselves to stay in the hunt for a top 3 finish and qualification to the shield final.
To Ballingarrys credit they threw everything they had at us but our girls defended with so much passion and heart. All over the field the girls worked so hard, battling for every ball.
We have 1 league game remaining vs Dromore on Saturday May 4th in Askeaton, where a win will see the girls into the shield final. Fantastic season from them so far.

Wednesday 24th April

U14 Boys Div 3
Askeaton/Kilcornan 4-2 Glantine
Adam O’ Driscoll
Aaron Cregan
Darragh O’ Shaughnessy
Eoin McNamara
We had a great start scoring after a few minutes through Adam O’Driscoll. Glantine equalised straight away but we responded brilliantly scoring twice before half with a header from Aaron Cregan and a great strike from Darragh O’Shaughnessy.
Glantine scored quickly after half time and we were under pressure for a few minutes. The lads began to get control again in midfield and we dominated proceedings for the remainder of the match. We created a number of chances and got our reward when Eoin McNamara scored following a corner.
A brilliant performance by all the players on the night.

Thursday 25th April

U16 Boys Div 2
Athea Utd 2-7 Askeaton/Kilcornan
Leon Morton (4)
Shane Ryan
Lorcan Blackwell
Gavin Rushe
Great performance from our lads this evening, we went ahead through an early strike from Leon Morton inside 2 minutes, followed by a neat finish from Lorcan Blackwell, to lead 0-2 after 25 minutes. Athea pulled one back with an OG, but shortly after, Shane Ryan nodded us 3-1 up and just before half time, Gavin Rushe scored a cracking free kick for us to lead 1-4 at the break. In the second half we tacked on 3 more goals with Leon Morton scoring all three including some lovely goals, with Athea also adding one to their account. In the final stages we had a penalty well saved by the Athea keeper. All 14 players got plenty of game time and well done to all, man of the match has to go to Leon Morton with 4 goals on the night and thank you again to all the parents and supporters who braved the elements to cheer us on, also wishing our striker Shane Ryan a speedy recovery from injury.

U10 Boys
Creeves v Askeaton/Kilcornan
Our 10s played their last game on Saturday morning. It was a very high level of competition and skill from both teams in a local derby. The match was fast paced and they all played some fantastic football. This group have progressed hugely and have come a long way over the last 4 years. Well done to all the players and coaches.

U16 Boys Cup Quarter Finals
Dromore Utd 3-0 Askeaton/Kilcornan

U14 Girls Div 2
Shannonside 3-0 Askeaton/Kilcornan
This was a result that did not reflect the true picture of this game as we had as much possession as our opponents. The difference was that Shsnnonside took their chances and we couldn’t convert ours into goals. All the panel got game time and while it was our last game of the season we are looking forward to the next season already as a large number of the panel will be in age again. Best of luck to Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan Community Games U15 girls who play their first Community Games match this coming Wednesday.
