On Tuesday evening we were away to Shountrade. 16 players took to the pitch over 80 minutes and did themselves proud, each having their own job to do to make a great team performance. Going down 1 nil didn’t stop our girls, by half time we were winning 2-1 with goals from Caoimhe and Hailey. We had to defend on numerous occasions to keep Shountrade out. Caoimhe made it 3-1 midway through the second half. The ladies were brilliant all over the park, each player in midfield winning their battles and our forwards were getting through. A second from Hailey and one from Samantha saw the game finish 5-1. It was a great team performance from all. Well done Ellie and Kate for sharing goalkeeping duties. It’s hard to pick a girl of the match but we will give it to our right back Ruby Maune on her brilliant performance. Well done girls let’s keep it going.
Wednesday 4th September
U12 Boys Div 2
Askeaton/Kilcornan A 3-3 GB Rovers

Our u12 boys got the season underway with a hard-fought but well-deserved 3-3 draw on Wednesday evening at home to GB Rovers. We went ahead early through a penalty scored by Harry Biggane, but GB levelled it before the break. They then took advantage of a couple of our small mistakes to go 3-1 ahead with about 15 minutes to go, but full credit to our team who rallied to level the match at 3-3 with 5 minutes left through goals from Mike Mulvihill and Kayden Delahunty, and with a bit of luck we could have snuck a win before the end. Great performances all over the pitch from the 12 players who took part, and a good confidence boost for us for the rest of the season.
Saturday 7th September
U12 Girls Div 1
NCW Town A 1-1 Askeaton/Kilcornan

U12 girls put in a great performance against a strong NCW town, in their first game of the season.
We were unlucky to be a goal down in the first half, but our girls came back fighting strong in the second half and a corner taken by Cailin Purtill resulted in Laura O’ Driscoll finding the ball and scoring a great goal.

We had a very comprehensive win on Saturday. All 16 lads played very well and can be more than proud of their performance.
A quick 2 goals inside 10 minutes from Danny Anglim put us well deservedly on top, Dromore snuck a goal back and instead of heads dropping our boys rallied together and Kieran Condon stuck a sweet strike from just inside the half way line into the side netting. This was followed by 2 quick lovely strikes from Dylan O’ Connor and another from Danny to put us comfortably into half time 6-1 up. Dromore started the second half quicker than us and after 1 or 2 saves from our keeper Dylan we got back into it and in the second half Danny got 2 more and we were safe and sound.
Great credit to the lads that came on too, not one foot wrong.

Our U17s traveled to Gort to take on Coole FC in the FAI Cup Preliminary Round. Great game by all and a great result to show. Next round we travel to play Tralee Dynamos, date to be confirmed.

ASKEATON KILCORNAN AFC 50/50 SPLIT THE POT!!
Our Split the Pot draw was held Tuesday, September 3rd in Askeaton clubhouse. The winner of €120 was Paul Kelly.
Split the Pot is our weekly fundraiser for Askeaton Kilcornan AFC. You can enter by writing your name and contact number on the envelope and place your €2 into the envelope. The envelope should be placed into one of the buckets located in SuperValu, Centra, Top of the Town Bar, Cagney’s Bar, Shanahan’s Shop, Boss Barbers, Brian Collins Bookmakers, Moran’s Hardware, Askeaton Soccer Pitch and Kilcornan Community Hall. You can also enter online at www.askeatonkilcornanafc.ie The draw is held every Tuesday evening. Half of the money entered into the draw is given in prize money and the other half goes towards funding activities for our club. We thank you all for your continued support of this fundraising initiative, it is very much appreciated.
