U13 Boys SFAI SUBWAY NATIONAL CUP ROUND 1
Lough Derg v Askeaton/Kilcornan
Our U13 boys travelled away to North Tipperary side Lough Derg FC in Round 1 of the SFAI Subway National Cup.
It wasn’t to be our day as we were beaten well by a very talented Lough Derg side. The lads gave their best effort throughout and showed great character against strong opposition.
Luke Mungovan got on the scoresheet for us with a well-earned goal.

U14 Girls Div 1
Abbeyfeale Utd v Askeaton/Kilcornan
U14 Girls Continue Winning Run with Superb Away Victory
Well done to our U14 girls, who travelled to Abbeyfeale for their third game of the campaign in Division 1, on what can only be described as a beautiful day for a game of football.
Once again, the girls showed their class, putting in a fantastic performance to secure an impressive victory away from home.
We opened the scoring after just eight minutes, with footballing maestro Laura O’Driscoll finding the back of the net to give the girls the perfect start.
With us dominating possession and controlling the game, Orla Murphy stepped up in the 12th minute with a sensational long-range effort, rifling the ball into the roof of the net.
The girls were only beginning to go through the gears, and Laura grabbed her second of the afternoon in the 18th minute to put us firmly in control.
On 27 minutes, Allie Fitzsimons scored after breaking through the Abbeyfeale defence. Her composed finish from around 18 yards found the back of the net and capped another excellent attacking move.
With the girls well in control, it was fantastic to see them continuing to attack from deep and work the ball confidently out from defence. Their composure in possession and willingness to play football from the back were a real feature of the performance.
It was the 43rd minute before Cailín Purtill got her name on the scoresheet, before Mia O’Shaughnessy completed the scoring soon afterwards.
A special mention has to go to our powerhouse of a defender, Isabelle Guerin, who was absolutely phenomenal and deservedly named Player of the Match. Her awareness, strength and support for the girls around her were outstanding throughout. Our very own Virgil van Dijk!
A fantastic team performance from start to finish, and another excellent result in Division 1. The girls can be very proud of their efforts.
A special thank you to Paul and Maria Purtill for sponsoring new jerseys for the girls.
And finally, best wishes to Zoe on a speedy recovery.

U16 Girls Div 1
Ballingarry 5-1 Askeaton/Kilcornan

JAKO MFA U17s Cup 1st Round
Dromore Utd 2-1 Askeaton/Kilcornan AFC

Sunday 27th September

Division Two League Cup Group A
Askeaton/Kilcornan B 2-3 Blackhill FC
A disappointing result as we were narrowly beaten 3-2 by newly amalgamated Blackhill FC at home in Kilcornan.
We started the game brightly and created a number of chances in the opening half, but despite several near misses, we couldn’t find the breakthrough. Blackhill then punished two defensive errors in quick succession, scoring in the 34th and 36th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
We came out much brighter in the second half and looked to get ourselves back into the game. However Blackhill extended their advantage from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
To our credit we didn’t give up. Just a minute after going three down, Sam Harty pulled one back, with Rob Carrig providing the assist.
We continued to push and were rewarded again in the 84th minute when Sam grabbed his second of the afternoon, this time assisted by Tyrique Harte making it 3-2.
We threw everything at Blackhill in the closing stages and worked extremely hard to find an equaliser, but unfortunately it just wouldn’t come.

U13 BOYS OUTING TO THE MARKETS FIELD.
What a great evening for our U13 boys at the Markets Field on Friday night.
The lads had a fantastic experience watching Treaty Utd take on Finn Harps. They got the chance to visit the dressing room, act as the guard of honour and play a match at half-time.
To top it all off Treaty United came away with a 2–1 win.
A big thank you to Tim and Paul for organising everything and to all the parents and kids for making it such a brilliant evening.
